Ford's saviour honored in S.F.

Oliver (Bill) Sipple, 32, the ex-Marine credited with deflecting the gun pointed at President Ford in San Francisco, has been honored at a luncheon by the city's construction unions for "outstanding courage."

Sipple was in the

crowd on Sept. 22 when Sara Jane Moore allegedly tried to take a shot at Ford. Police said Sipple hit the woman's arm as she fired.

News reports after the incident identified Sipple as a homosexual. He now has invasion-ofprivacy suits pending against seven
